Washington DC Driver License Fees

To obtain a District of Columbia drivers license, you must pay, at one time or another, one or some of the following license fees:

  • Learners permit: $20
  • Duplicate learners permit: $7
  • Drivers license: $44
  • Duplicate drivers license: $7
  • Drivers license reinstatement: $98Road test cancellation: $10
The DMV accepts fee payment in the form of cash or a check, money order, or credit card (Visa, Discover, MasterCard).

When applying at the DMV, you must provide the following documents:

  • Proof of identity and date of birth.
  • Proof of your Social Security number.
  • Proof of Washington DC residency.
All documents must be original copies.
