License Renewal for an Expired License in District of Columbia

Additional testing during license renewal is contingent upon the length of expiration. If your drivers license is expired:

  • Fewer than 90 days, you’ll undergo a vision screening.
  • More than 90 days, you’ll undergo a vision screening and knowledge test.
  • More than 180 days, you’ll undergo a vision screening, knowledge test, and license test.
