Obtaining a Salvage Title in AK

In the state of Alaska, salvaged vehicles are registered in the same way reconstructed or custom-build vehicles. In order to obtain a salvage title for your salvaged vehicle, you must present the following to the AK DMV:

  • The vehicle’s original title.
  • Completed Reconstructed Vehicle Affidavit, signed by a notary.
  • Vehicle bill of sale.
  • Invoices and receipts for vehicle repair and rebuilt auto work.
  • Certificate of inspection, completed by a police officer or DMV representative.
  • Completed Application for Title & Registration.
  • $15 title fee.

Replacing Lost or Damaged Titles

If the original title has been lost or damaged, you can request a duplicate title by submitting a notarized Affidavit of Lost, Stolen or Destroyed Title to your local DMV. Affidavits are available for download on the DMV website, or by contacting DMV headquarters, directly:
