Replacement Plates and Tags for AK Car Registration

In order to complete vehicle registration in the state of Alaska, you must purchase a license plate and maintain current car tags. In the case of lost or damaged license plates and tags, you can request a replacement via the Alaska Tags and Titles department of the DMV.

Required Documents and Fees

Submit the following documents and fees to obtain your replacement plates and tags:

  • Your original license plate number, VIN, or serial number.
  • A completed Vehicle Transaction Application Short Form.
  • A completed Application for Title & Registration.
  • $5 replacement plate fee.
