How do I renew DE vehicle registration? Delaware
DE Register Car and Registration Renewal
The Delaware DMV will either send you a registration renewal notice by mail, or give you the option of being notified by an automated phone or E-mail system. Mail notification usually gets sent about three months before your car registration expires, and automated notification goes out 30, 60, and 90 days prior. You can renew your registration in one of two ways: by mail or in person.
Renew DMV Registration by Mail
To renew by mail, complete the registration renewal card sent to you. It will include detailed instructions on what information you'll need to provide. In most cases this will include proof of insurance and an odometer reading. Send the completed renewal form, along with a check, to the address indicated on the renewal form.
Generally, the mail-in option is only available if an inspection is not required. Regardless, this will be indicated on the renewal notice.
Renew DMV Registration in Person
To renew your vehicle registration in person, visit your local Delaware DMV office with:
- Proof of insurance.
- Your renewal notice.
- The odometer reading.
- Cash or a check, money order, or credit card (Visa, MasterCard) to pay the $40 registration renewal fee. If you miss the expiration date, you'll be required to pay an additional $10 late fee.
Smog and Emissions Testing Requirements
Your renewal notice will indicate whether or not a smog check/safety inspection is required. If so, visit one of four DMV test sites before applying for registration renewal. To avoid the last-minute rush, emissions and safety inspections can take place 90 days in advance.Post Comment for "How do I renew DE vehicle registration?"
