Getting a Duplicate Title in Hawaii

If you or the person selling you a car does not have the car title, you’ll want to get a replacement so you can complete the title transfer and registration.

If you lost the title for a car you own, you should get a new one in case you need it. Titles are not expensive or difficult to replace.

  2. Pay the $5 fee for a duplicate title.
  3. Mail it in or bring it into a HI DMV office.
NOTE: You do not need a bill of sale.
