If you have lost your KY car title, or if it is has been damaged or stolen, you can apply for a duplicate title at the Motor Vehicle Licensing (MLV) division of your County Clerk’s office.

Required Documents and Fees

In order to replace a lost title, or a damaged or stolen one, present the following to your county’s MVL office:

  • Completed replacement application.
  • Your current drivers license.
  • License plate number.
  • $8 Duplicate title fee.

A copy of your title transfer, or the original bill of sale is not required, however it is advisable to keep copies of these documents for your personal records.

Turn Around Time

Your replacement title will be printed and mailed to you within two business days of completing the application process. If you do not receive your new title within seven days, contact your County Clerk’s office directly.
