If your LA license plates have been lost or damaged, you can apply for replacement plates at your local Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) branch. Be prepared to present your title and proof of vehicle registration. Contact the OMV branch ahead of time to inquire about fees.

OMV Locations

You can contact OMV headquarters directly for an office near you:

Louisiana OMV
P.O. Box 64866
Baton Rouge, LA 70896
(225) 925-6146

Applying for Your License Plate by Mail

If you are unable to visit an OMV branch in person, you can request new car tags by mailing a copy of your title and car registration, and the required replacement fee, to OMV headquarters.

If you do not receive your tags within 60 days, contact the OMV within that 60 period to request them again.  Be prepared to present proof of payment, and to verify your mailing address.
