It just takes a few quick steps to apply for a salvage title.

ME Salvage Title Process

Get a salvage title application by either visiting a BMV branch office or by calling the titles division at (207) 624-9000, ext. 52138.

Then complete and submit the application, along with your payment for the $33 salvage title fee. You'll also need to give up your current title, as that will no longer be valid once the salvage title is issued. You won't have to include the bill of sale with your title application.

If you're interested in obtaining a Maine rebuilt auto title and registration, call the title division for details. But, you will need to keep a record of all the receipts for any parts purchased for the vehicle, or any repairs made to it.

Vehicle History Report

When shopping for used cars, sophisticated buyers view a vehicle history report (VHR) as a necessary tool.

Loaded with useful information about the vehicle history, these reports enable buyers to have a better understanding about the car, and make a more well-informed decision about its true value – and the likelihood of mechanical or safety problems after the purchase.
