Whether you purchased a new auto or you are relocating to Missouri (MO), you must contact the MO Department of Revenue (DOR) to complete the car registration process. You have up to 30 days to start the register car steps after you officially relocate to MO.
Documents that you need for vehicle registration are:
Have an emissions inspection or smog check conducted on the auto before you visit a local DOR office to complete the registration process. The emissions testing cannot be conducted more than 60 days before you register the vehicle.
Pay the $11 title and registration fee. Motor vehicles are titled and registered simultaneously for the first time in MO.
If you pay an additional $3.50 you can register your auto for one full year. For $7 you can register the motor vehicle for two years.
Use a check or money order to pay the fees. Submit fees with the completed application at a local DOR service center. Should you choose to mail the application and fees in, address the envelope to:
