What are the MO emissions or smog check requirements for vehicle registration? Missouri
Prior to completing the car registration process at a Missouri (MO) Department of Revenue (DOR) service center, each auto is required to pass an emissions or smog inspection. Autos older than five years are also required to pass a safety inspection.
Vehicle registration can be completed on motorcycles and autos that were manufactured in 1995 or earlier absent the emissions and smog test.
If you drive your auto less than 12,000 miles every two years, you can complete a Mileage Based Exemption Request to see if the DOR will exempt your auto from the emissions and smog tests.
