Register Car in MT and Obtain a Vehicle Registration Certificate
To apply for car registration, visit your local MVD office (in most cases this will be your county treasurer) with:- A car title. It must be properly assigned. Title signatures must be notarized if a title transfer occurred.
- A completed Application for Certificate of Title for a Motor Vehicle. The application can be downloaded from the MVD's website.
- A bill of sale.
- Payment for registration fees. Rates vary, contingent on a vehicle's age, license plate (standard versus specialty) and if your county imposes a county option tax. For help in pinpointing an exact fee, contact your county treasurer.
