When You Arrive for Smog Check
Be sure to have either proof of car registration or a moving permit. You'll also need cash, check, debit card or credit card to pay for the emissions test. Fees for most passenger cars cost $39 in Washoe county and $40 in Clark county.
Pass the NV Smog Inspection
If you pass, you'll have the option of renewing your vehicle registration at the test site. The DMV will then mail your registration card and decal within a couple days.
Fail the Nevada Smog Inspection
If you fail, you'll be required to have the car repaired and retested. If you fail a second test, you may be eligible for an emissions waiver.
If your registration is about to expire while the car is being repaired, you can avoid registration late fees by applying for a 10-day temporary permit with the DMV.
