It's a simple process to replace a damaged or lost title. That's fortunate, because your car title is one of the most important documents you have. So, should you notice it's missing or unreadable, you should replace it immediately.

Here's how to do so.

Apply for a NH Duplicate Title

Begin by downloading and completing the appropriately named Application for a Duplicate Certificate of Title (form TDMV18) from the DMV site.

Does your title list multiple owners with their names joined by "and"? If so, all owners must sign the application.

When you're finished, make out a check for $25, payable to the State of New Hampshire DMV. Then, mail your payment and the form to:

  • Division of Motor Vehicles
  • Bureau of Title and Anti-Theft
  • 23 Hazen Drive
  • Concord, NH 03305

Was there a lien on the vehicle? If so, also complete and enclose the Release of Lien or other Encumbrances application (form TDMV20); it can be downloaded through the DMV site.

You don't need to send the bill of sale, vehicle registration, or any other documents...just the ones mentioned.
