Perhaps the most important consideration about getting your salvage title or rebuilt auto title is that your vehicle must pass a state inspection first.

These tests can be completed at one of nine inspection locations throughout New Hampshire. The DMV site lists the addresses and hours of operation for each inspection station on the Salvage Inspection Locations form, which you can download.

Bring the following items with you to the inspection.

NH Salvage Title Inspection Checklist

Salvage Certificate application (downloadable through the DMV site)
Proof of repair of salvage parts
Insurance adjuster's report
Proof of ownership (i.e., the title)
Bill of Sale or title certificate for the major components used to rebuild the vehicle
Payment for the $50 fee

Once the inspection is completed, the inspector will provide you with a completed Verification of Vehicle Identification form. Bring this along with the forms listed above to a town clerk's office to complete the salvage title process. Your title will be mailed to you.

Keep in mind that your salvage or rebuilt vehicle will need to pass the same safety and emissions tests that other cars face in order to retain its vehicle registration.

Vehicle History Report

In the market for used cars? If so, arming yourself with a vehicle history report (VHR) will gives you a clearer look into the car's past. Having this information can allow you to make a more well-informed decision about your next car purchase.
