All vehicles, except salvage and junked, require annual car registration in Oklahoma. After buying a vehicle, you must register it within 30 days of the purchase date to avoid a late fee.

To apply for vehicle registration, visit your local tag agency with:

  • A completed Application for Oklahoma Certificate of Title for a Vehicle. It will need to be signed at the tag agency before the office's notary.  
  • The car's title. 
  • Proof of Oklahoma car insurance.
  • Proper identification. 
  • Either a bill of sale or a Declaration of Vehicle Purchase Price. 
  • Payment for vehicle registration fee. The first four years of owning the vehicle cost $91 per registration. The fee drops to $81 for the second four years of ownership. Depending on your situation, you may also be charged an excise tax. 

Car Registration After Relocating to Oklahoma

You must register your vehicle and obtain Oklahoma license plates within 30 days of establishing residency.

Emissions Testing for Smog
