Replace RI Car Registration Stickers

If it's only your stickers that are missing or damaged, you can replace them at a DMV branch office.

Just bring your registration card, drivers license (or other acceptable photo ID), and proof of insurance and you'll be given replacement stickers.

Replace Damaged RI License Plates

Are your car tags unreadable? Replace them (with the same registration numbers) by completing either the Wave Plate or Designer Plate order form, whichever pertains to your situation. You can download both forms from the DMV site.

Then, send the completed form along with your payment (check or money order) for your plate fee replacement to:

RI Division of Motor Vehicles
Attn: PLATES
100 Main St.
Pawtucket, RI 02860

The replacement fee varies according to which license plates you choose. When it's time to pick up your plates, you'll be notified through the mail.

Replace Stolen/Lost Damaged RI License Plates

You must start this process by notifying your local police department about your missing or stolen plates. You'll receive a police report, which will be used to cancel your old license plates.

Before heading to the DMV, download and complete the TR-1 form from the DMV site. Then, bring the completed form along with the police report to the DMV. Standard replacement plates cost $21.50, while vanity plates carry higher fees.
