What are the VT emissions or smog check requirements for vehicle registration? Vermont
After obtaining your car registration from the DMV you will have 15 days to have your vehicle pass a safety inspection. Incorporated within this inspection is an on-board diagnostics (OBD) examination, the closest Vermont has to an actual smog check.
Register Car in VT and Pass Emissions Testing for Smog
Your vehicle must be inspected at a DMV-sanctioned inspection site, which are generously located throughout the state. When you arrive, you'll need to provide:- Proof of valid car insurance.
- Proof of vehicle registration.
- Your vehicle's OBD system connector has been removed, preventing inspection.
- The dashboard's Malfunction Indicator Light does not illuminate upon turning on the car's ignition.
- The dashboard's Malfunction Indicator Light remains permanently illuminated.
You will be required to pay for all repair costs, unless, of course, you're still covered under warranty. If you ignore needed repairs, you will be ticketed if caught driving without a valid inspection sticker affixed to your car's windshield.
NOTE: Vehicles manufactured prior to 1996 are exempt from the emissions examination.Post Comment for "What are the VT emissions or smog check requirements for vehicle registration?"
