As you probably know, your car title is an important document that should be replaced as soon as you notice it's missing or damaged. Here's how to do so.

Applying for a WY Duplicate Title

Go to your local county clerk's office to apply for your replacement title. Bring your current vehicle registration or some other way to identify the vehicle (such as it's vehicle identification number or license plate number), and payment for the $9 replacement fee. You don't have to produce the bill of sale.

You'll need to complete a lost title/replacement title form, which all the owners listed on the title must sign. If there's an unsatisfied lien, the duplicate title will go to the lienholder unless you provide a release from the lienholder.

Before the duplicate title can be issued, you must wait at least 11 days as mandated by Wyoming law. The title will be mailed to you (or the lienholder) once the proper amount of time has elapsed.
