As you may know, it's illegal to drive in Wyoming with missing license plates or stickers. So, if you notice your plates and/or stickers are damaged or missing, here's what to do.

Replace WY License Plates

Head to your local county treasurer's office to start this process. Bring your current vehicle registration or something to identify your vehicle, such as its license plate number or vehicle identification number (VIN). It's a good idea to have your drivers license or state ID card with you, too.

You'll need to sign a completed Form MV-405, the Application for New or Duplicate License Plates. After doing so and paying the appropriate fees, you can get your new plates.

If you're willing to accept any license plate combination, your replacement plate will cost $8. If you want to keep your old plate combination, it'll cost you $30, and there are some restrictions. And, with duplicate plates, you can't display the replacement plates until the stickers from your previous plates expire.

You must hand in your damaged plates when the new car tags are ready. If your plates were stolen, you should report the theft to local law enforcement.

Replace WY License Plate Stickers

Bring your car registration or some other way to identify your vehicle to the county treasurer's office to replace your stickers. After paying the $6 fee, you'll be issued new stickers.
