What is the state requirement for auto insurance in Alaska?
Alaska (AK) auto insurance laws mandate that you maintain adequate liability insurance coverage on your motor vehicle. Before you register your auto in AK you must show valid proof of car insurance.
If you reside in a part of AK that does not require you to register your auto, you are not required to have auto insurance. Areas of AK that are exempt from registration are listed at the AK Division of Motor Vehicles website. Some of the exempt areas are:

Minimum auto insurance requirements for each motor vehicle in AK are:- Injury or death to one person: $50,000
- Injury or death to two or more people: $100,000
- Property damage: $25,000
