What is the state requirement for auto insurance in Kentucky?
In order to operate a motor vehicle in the state of Kentucky, you must carry proof of auto insurance at all times. In addition to liability coverage, you are also required to carry personal injury protection (PIP).
In the state of Kentucky, you are required to carry at least $10,000 PIP per accident. The only problem with PIP is that it can inhibit you from suing a second party for further damages accrued.

Liability Insurance
The purpose of liability car insurance is to cover damages to another person’s property and injuries suffered by second or third parties. The minimum liability insurance required in Kentucky includes:- $10,000 property damage liability per accident.
- $25,000 bodily injury liability per person.
- $50,000 total bodily injury liability per accident.

Proof of Auto Insurance
The Kentucky Office of Insurance (KOI) requires you to electronically report the amount of auto insurance you are carrying.
