Do all states require a SR 22?
If you have been in an accident, or have been convicted of a serious infraction such as DUI, your state might require you to file an SR 22 form for up to three years. The purpose of an SR22 is to provide proof of meeting the minimum liability insurance requirements in your state.
Filing SR22
When you file SR22, essentially you enter a high risk insurance category, one intended for drivers convicted of particularly dangerous offenses such as DUI or driving with a suspended license. You might also be required to carry file SR22 if you were previously unable to present proof of insurance while driving.States That Don’t Require SR22
The following states do not require drivers to file SR22:- Delaware
- Kentucky
- Minnesota
- New Mexico
- New York
- North Carolina
- Oklahoma
- Pennsylvania
Obtaining an Auto Insurance Quote
