A permit practice test mirrors an actual written test. There are no trick questions. All of the information found on a practice test is based, just like an actual test, on information found in your state's drivers manual. Hence, study the drivers manual if you want to pass your test, obtain a learners permit and, ultimately a drivers license.

You can grab a manual from any DMV office, or, if you prefer, download a copy from your state's DMV Web site.

Practice tests frame questions in multiple choice form, just like real drivers permit tests. All of the topics touch on everything contained in the manual, including road sign identification, passing, parking, what to do when approached by an emergency vehicle and more. And while the wording, obviously, won't be exactly alike, you'll find that the practice tests are the closest thing to the real exams.

There are many online services offering practice tests. They are good at what they do and would not remain in business if they offered practice exams that bore no resemblance to the actual tests. The same logic applies to practice tests found in DMV driver manuals.
