It is never a bad idea to look over the state’s drivers manual as well as take online practice tests. While some people do learn the material through taking a practice DMV test, there is always the possibility that some small fact in the manual will be on the real drivers license test and not on the practice test. In other words, you want to be prepared.

Go ahead and give the manual a once-over, then take the practice tests. Take as many practice tests as you can to prepare for the real test. An online driving test is super-convenient and a great way to both test what you’ve read and will help you retain all the new information by repetition. If you are consistently getting high scores and there are many areas being tested, then you’re probably ready to take the real drivers test. If you are getting low scores, then you probably need to really look at the driver’s manual as well as do more practice tests.
