Are there any risks in taking a traffic school course from cheap driving schools?
Yes, if it means receiving an inferior education. And, if you're taking a traffic school course to comply with a court order, to dismiss a traffic ticket or reduce a speeding ticket fine, or to lower your car insurance premiums, but the "cheap" defensive driving school isn't on the approved list, you're out of luck--that course won't be accepted.
However, inexpensive or cheap driving schools shouldn't be rejected just because of their prices. Many inexpensive online traffic schools provide quality information. And, many also comply with state or insurance company standards; you'll just need to check with your state's driver's license department or your insurance carrier to see if the school is on their approved list.
Chances are good that if a traffic school is on the approved list, it offers an excellent education - even if it's cheap!
