Refund policies vary with each online traffic school. If, for whatever reason, you cannot complete a traffic school course you will have to personally contact the school regarding a refund. Most, not all, defensive driving schools do have a refund policy in place, provided the refund is not based on whether or not you pass the final exam. Each school, you'll find, mandates a different time period for refunds. Some require a refund request in writing within 30 days, others 60 days.

The defensive driving schools that don't provide refunds are usually up front about their reimbursement policies. Most clarify their refund positions, often in bold type, on their Web pages. So if you harbor any doubts about having the time to complete a traffic school course, you should either think twice about enrolling, or at least to take the time to research a particular school's refund policy. Keep in mind that if you bail on the class just before the final exam, you will not receive a certificate of completion, which is needed for getting a speeding ticket fine reduced or a traffic ticket dismissed.
