What if I misplace my certificate after completing a driver's course?

New Driver Checklist
In most cases, you’ll simply need to contact the driver’s course instructor or company and request a copy. You might have to pay a fee, so be prepared. Some states provide downloadable copies of drivers education completion certificates on their Web sites. If you live in one of those states, download the certificate and complete it again with your instructor.

(Of course, if you took driver ed online and live in a state that provides downloadable copies of your drivers education completion certificate, understand that these copies won’t help you. Each company that teaches online drivers education sets its own procedures for handling matters such as lost drivers ed completion certificates, so you’ll have to contact the company.)

Because states that require applicants to complete drivers ed also want to see proof before they’ll issue your learners permit or drivers license, it’s best to track down these copies sooner rather than later.
