Check with your auto insurance carrier to see if this money-saving option is available. Do not rely on a driver ed online course's insurance discount claim, for it's the insurance company, not the driving school, that makes the decision on discounts. If this option is available, usually you can expect a discount in the 10 to 15 percent range.

If this benefit is presented by your insurance company, you will need to check if any class restrictions exist. Like, for instance, if you can enroll in an online class. Or, if the course must be classroom only. If no restrictions exist you can find a long list of classes by searching on the Internet under the words "driving classes online" or "drivers education courses." Upon completion, you'll then need to present your insurance provider with a course certificate as proof of enrollment.

If, of course, your provider does not offer discounted premiums for enrollment, a driving class still carries value, teaching safe driving tips and techniques for all road situations.
