What are the restrictions for beginner and teen drivers with a new TX driver license? Texas

New Driver Checklist
After you've taken drivers ed and passed the teen learners permit or drivers permit stage, you're ready for a Texas provisional license. Some restrictions do apply for the following six months after receiving this type of TX drivers license - but only if you're under the age of 18.

The restrictions are that you can't drive:
  • With more than one passenger under the age of 21 (this doesn't apply to family member passengers).
  • Between midnight - 5 a.m. (unless it's related to your job, school, or an emergency).
  • While using a wireless communication device.
Again, these restrictions are only for six months. After that, you have the same privileges as those with a standard driver license.
